Robert Elwell (b.13 Dec.1664) was a fisherman and sea captain. 16 December 1700 he sold a parcel of land at Eastern Point willed
him by his grandfather, Robert Elwell. Other portions of that legacy he sold in 1702 and 1712. Certain lands and privileges
in Gloucester he sold to his son, Robert in 1712. He removed to Kittery, Maine and on 24 September 1730 sold all his property
rights in Gloucester to his children as follows: to Samuel Elwell of Gloucester, fisherman; to Joseph and John Elwell of
Biddeford, husbandman; to Hannah, wife of Nathaniel Duriel, and Sarah, wife of Robert Edgecomb of Biddeford.

The records of Biddeford, Maine for 1720 contain the following note: "Given and granted that Robert Elwell should have
forty acres of land where he could find it clear of all former grants" 18 October 1725 Robert Elwell of Biddeford deeded
to Benjamin Haley, house carpenter, of Saco in said County, forty acres for ten pounds, probably the grant of 1720.
