King of France 893-922.

Charles III (Holy Roman Empire)

Charles III (Holy Roman Empire), called The Fat (839-888), Holy Roman emperor (881-887), king of the East Franks, or Germans (876-887), and, as Charles II, king of the West Franks, or French (884-887). He was the son of Emperor Louis II and the great-grandson of Charlemagne. Charles was deposed from his thrones in 887 by his nephew, Arnulf, duke of Karnten (Carinthia). His deposition marked the dissolution of the Frankish Empire.
